With the opportunity to create a new lounge for its First Class and Business passengers, Swissair / Sabena wanted to create a facility consistent with its superior accommodations available in Zurich. In addition, the new Swissair / Sabena lounge is intended as a model for development of future Swissair / Sabena lounges at airports in Miami and Boston.

The site is 180 feet by 32 feet on the fourth floor of the terminal. Rather than further box in the already linear space with a flat ceiling, We opted to maximize the basic proportions of the space and to reinforce the experience of the terminal by creating an articulated ceiling of angled planes. The upward motion of the ceiling integrates the lounge space with the curtain wall of the new terminal, flooding the lounge with light. The lounge offers its visitors a calm setting designed as a refuge for the traveler. Limestone floors run throughout the lounge that is subtly accented with a palette of richly muted carpet and fabrics.
