The main cabin was renovated and four bedrooms and two baths were added on to the home. The upper level shingle style addition was designed as a compliment to the log-sided main level. A screen porch was also added and the interiors of the home were paneled in lightly stained pine.
Increase in the size of the house was muted through the use of a cedar shingle clad upper level which emulates the tree canopy of the site and contrasts with the solidity of the existing log siding base.
Steel mullion reinforcement provided narrow lake views for the living and dining area. An upper clear story level provides lake views from the upper stair and bedroom areas. We were able to maintain the original Owner program without removing any trees from the site. A harmonious color scheme blends the home with its surrounding in a way that results in a traditional-contemporary mix of wood and views set in a pristine dunescape.
